Help us to care for one another and to forgive one another,
To play and work well together,
Help us to be thankful and always to remember the love of Christ and spread his love wherever we go.
Amen
Meet the AGC
We have an Academy Governance Committee (AGC) that has some delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board of Directors as outlined in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation. They engage with our local community. They do not hold the academy to account but carry out the following role:
Vision and Values
Agree the vision and values for the academy with reference to the SIAMS Schedule, in partnership with the academy community, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust’s Vision and embracing equality.
Monitor that the vision and the values are being ‘lived out’ in all aspects of the life of the academy.

Meet the Academy Governance Committee
David Sharman (Chair)
Community/Safeguarding Governor (appointed by the Governing Body)
End of term: 14/03/2026
My wife and I moved to Middleton in 2014 and have two children (the eldest, Thomas, attends the school). We instantly connected with the Cottingham/Middleton village community spirit and have relished the opportunity to support the various good causes. Extending this support to the village school, as a Governor, felt very natural. My career in the oil industry, predominantly in Sales / Account Management, should allow me to offer my business skills to the role as Governor. This, together with always aiming for the highest standards, I am enthusiastic about contributing to the thriving success of this school.
Ashley Scott
Staff Governor (ex-officio)
Cottingham CofE Primary School is at the heart of the community and as the Headteacher/Governor, I hope that I can influence the direction in which the school will grow and develop. In both my Headteacher/Governor, roles I will be able to support the Academy Governance Committee (AGC) in enabling them to hold myself and the school staff to account. I hope that my experience will support the development of each member of the AGC and give them an insight into education and the impact that we can have on the children attending our school. The role of a Governor has changed over the years and I feel strongly that our Governance Committee have a very important role to play in the life of a small, rural primary school. I will be open, transparent and welcoming to all questions, feedback and ideas that are put forward throughout the year. I am very confident that the current AGC is a strong Committee with each member having different skill sets.
Catherine Wilson
Staff Governor
End of term: 19/09/2022
I was fortunate enough to became a permanent member of staff at Cottingham in 2015 and have served as staff governor since 2018. I wear many different hats in my role including Year 1&2 class teacher, key stage 1 lead, Literacy lead, RE/Collective worship lead and DDSL. I consider myself very lucky to be part of such a wonderful caring and supportive school community and it is a pleasure to represent my talented colleagues on the governing body.
Ben Jeffs
Elected Parent Governor (appointed by election 26/06/2019)
End of term: 25/06/2023
My Daughter Hollie attends Cottingham Primary School and my son Steven will be joining the Cottingham family in September 2020. I love that Cottingham Primary school is a small primary school, where everyone is truly supportive of each other and want the best for everyone and the school. When the opportunity arose for me becoming a Parent Governor, I felt it was an opportunity to give something back to the school which had already shown so much support to my family. I am an experienced School Governor, having been on the Finance Committee for another Primary school in Corby.
Peter Smith
Church Governor
End of term: 30/06/2024
I am very pleased to have been appointed as one of the church governors at Cottingham CofE Primary School.
I was born and raised in Leicestershire and have lived in Middleton for 15 years, close to the school, and run a garden landscaping and maintenance business locally. I am married to Debbie, a local music teacher. I myself enjoy singing and making music.
I have significant experience in education, having taught for over 15 years, both in secondary and primary phases. In addition to this I am trained as an engineer.
As a member of the Parochial Church Committee of St Mary Magdalene Church in Cottingham I feel ideally placed to help link the two organisations and support the school in delivering the curriculum.
Zoe McGhee
Community Governor
End of term: 01/12/2025
I am extremely pleased to be appointed as community governor at Cottingham Primary. I work for CSD Activity camps, and often work in the school delivering after school clubs. I love the atmosphere of the school and greatly admire the commitment and dedication to the children. My background is in Politics, I have a degree from the University of Brighton, which has led me to 2 roles - both supporting children and young people. I represent Kingswood & Hazel Leys, as a Cllr on North Northants Council and I co-hold the shadow portfolio for Children's Services. My ambitious plan involves advocating to develop youth services across the county. Alongside this I work as a Funding Executive at CSD, a local not-for-profit provider of extra-curricular and holiday activities. The community of Corby and North Northants means a great deal to me & I look forward to learning more in this role.
